General Powell and his wife to attended “Education Nation” Summit September 28 at Rockefeller Plaza. He will be delivering the keynote and discussing to state of our nation’s education system with attendees. The discussion will be streamed live on MSNBC and can be accessed at educationnation.com. The summit will seek to address the High School Dropout Crisis, Prepare Our Future Workforce, and other related issues affecting our current education system.
General Powell states; "When it comes to education and the future of our children, the time for change is now. The risks of inaction to our economy and the integrity of this country are too great if we do not address the dropout crisis." His wife Alma Powel currently chairs America's Promise Alliance which was founded 1997 and has over 400 partners that share its vision to improve the nation’s education system and policies. The summit will give teachers, parents, students and policymakers a voice for reform and change and hopes to hold decision makers accountable to the current education crisis.
