5. Champions for Healthy Kids

Purpose: nonprofit organizations working to improve nutrition and physical fitness behaviors for youth.
Amount: $5,000

Eligibility: Organizations must have a current 501(c)(3) Public Charity status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), be a school or a unit of government.

6. Youth Garden Grant-Mantis Tiller Award

Organization: National Garden Association (NGA)

Purpose: National Garden Association (NGA) awards Youth Garden Grants to
schools and community organizations with child-centered garden programs.
Amount: packages of supplies
Deadline: March 7, 2014
Eligibility: Schools, youth groups, community centers, camps, clubs, treatment facilities, and intergenerational groups throughout the United States are eligible. Applicants must plan to garden with at least 15 children between the ages of 3 and 18 years.

9. Community Impacts Grant Program

Organization: Home Depot Foundation

Purpose: Grants are available for public schools that are using the power of volunteers to improve the physical health of their community.
Funding cycle:  The application for the Community Impact Grants program will be available from February 1st, 2014 through August 15th , 2014.
Amount: Grants up to $5,000 are given in the form of the Home Depot gift cards for the purchase of tools, materials, or services
Eligibility: Only proposals submitted through the online application process will be considered for funding. Projects must be completed within 6 months following notification of award, with reporting requirements due 30 days following the completion of the project.
